LINK People often ask me about the
thingamagummy I play, here is the story
.
Music has always been an important part of my life, but not a successful part! I inherited the family trumped in Junior High. It was awful and so was I. In college I took piano lessons and learned the basic chords for guitar. I practiced the piano for years and it slowly, dawned on me that I would always be an awful piano player. In 1998 I found a DH-100 at a junk shop, a plastic, saxophone-like thing that was kind of fun to play. When reverb and an amp, it did not sound half bad. I enjoyed it, but in searching the Internet to find more about the thing, I discovered the whole field of Wind Synthesis. and decided to buy a WX-5 with the VL70M Sound Module.
The VL70M is a tone generator that uses computer logarithms to create sounds which sound more "live" than regular sound module sounds. I have also upgraded the Yamaha sounds with help from Patchman Music which is a definite step up in sound quality.
I had a large collection of MIDI files (computer generated music files that can be played on a keyboard, computer, or midi module). When I got the WX-5, I discovered that they make great backgrounds for my so-so playing. Hey, I get to be the star of my own band! I read the music from my computer screen and have thousands of tunes I can almost play. I started digitally recording my stuff just because I could. I realized it was easy to make CDs and started making custom CDs as a joke, or souvenir of some event or farewell presentation. They are just meant to be a fun gift for friends and a demo of what anyone can do at home with your computer and expensive toys.
