Hearing  

 

I have a slight hearing loss in my left ear. It is in the higher frequencies, but I don't always hear beeping or other machine made sounds. I usually wear my pager on my right side just in case. Occasionally I can use my hearing loss as an excuse for not hearing my wife,  but other than that it's a bit of a pain. Jesus talked a lot about hearing. He was keenly aware that some people hear a lot better than others, and many people are deaf to certain messages.

 

For those of us blessed with hearing, it is very important in our physical world. The honk of a horn, the clang of a railway crossing, the wail of a siren. These sounds can save our life. In the world of relationships, not hearing can end a marriage, hurt a friendship, or cause lasting pain to a child.

 

How is your hearing?

 

Are you listening to your spouse? Your children? Do you know the difference between the voice of God and the voice of the evil. Are there some scriptures you choose not to hear?  We all miss some things, but are you missing out on important things? Do you hear enough to stay spiritually alive??

 

Matt 13:14 In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: "'You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving

 

John 8:43-44 Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. You belong to your father  the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies

 

Acts 28:27 For this people's heart has become callused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.'
